New ‘pop – up’ stores

It has been revealed by Samsung that it will present pop – up mobile stores by the end of May in London. Its goal is to cash in on the increased number of consumers during the busy London Olympic Games by showcasing their new Galaxy S3. Samsung calls these stores ‘PINS’ because they are apparently like moving pinpoints on a map.

These pop up stores or the ‘Samsung Mobile PIN’ will be showcased on May 29th in Westfield Stratford City, and the Old Spitalfields Market. These locations will showcase the ‘Pin 5’ version (5 by 5 metres), while the larger Pin 7 will debut after the two initial openings. Further stores will open in Hyde Park and the Olympic Park. Samsung says its purpose is to provide and “immersive” and easier way to consider and shop for their products. The services in the stores allow consumers to test out phones rather than the plastic equivalent.

These stores should help to reel in the shoppers, especially at Westfield which has been extensively redeveloped to cater for the Olympics. As well it should, providing an estimated 70% of Olympic spectators will pass through Westfield.
