Twitter announced it has rolled out and improved version of “expanded Tweets” that enables users to preview images, stories and video links within Tweets. Users can already view YouTube videos and Instagram photos, but now is said to be partnering with a “diverse and growing group” of media companies. Some groups to name are The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and WWE.

Micheal Sippey the director of Twitter’s product team stated:
“When you expand a Tweet linking to a news article by The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle or Der Spiegel Online, you can see a preview with the headline, the introduction and sometimes the Twitter accounts of the publisher and writer. You can continue to read the article, follow these accounts, and reply, favourite or retweet the Tweet.”

Twitter says the new feature will present images from BuzzFeed and TMZ, and video links from Dailymotion, BET, and Lifetime. It is not yet available on the mobile app for iOS but will be soon.
