Are you ready for the battle between two gaming giants; Microsoft Xbox and Sony PS3? Let’s start from the technical aspects of both machines then later we will put some light on the other features of the both systems.
First the both consoles are fighting over the design. In past both Xbox and PS3 had chubby version of consoles but recently they released the re-visited slim versions called Xbox 360-S and PS3 Slim. The Xbox 360-S is slimmer, slicker, has new breathtaking edgy style and very much improved in looks with glossy finish than its original version of Xbox but it still has it’s same sizeable AC adaptor. On the other hand, PS3-slim is matt finished, slicker version and resembles with the George Forman grill. However, it is quite travel friendly than the Xbox 360-S. But based solely on design, Xbox 360 has an upper hand on PS3.
If we talk about features; Xbox 360-S has a larger 250GB hard drive and finally introduced Wi-Fi connectivity. With Xbox 360 you will get HDMI, wireless controls. But the biggest setback of Xbox is its proprietary hard drive. The real difference that PS3 makes in features is its cool embedded top quality Blu ray. In addition, PS3 has a user replaceable hard drive. The PS3 is ready for the 3D movies and games through software updates. Hence, in the round of features, PS3 knocks down Xbox 360 with a big score.
In this digital era, online services are the main stream point to focus on. Microsoft Xbox internet services are very much user friendly with a wide size of community and allows users to access the integrated services like Netflix, Last.fm, Facebook, Twitter and many more. Microsoft charges around $50 a year to provide the online services to consumers but it is a great package taking the services into notice. PS3 online services are absolutely free but not as developed as Xbox live services. Again, Microsoft Xbox strikes back with a perfect upper cut to PS3 in online services, oh my Xbox!!
Let’s come down to the main reason why we are here and fighting over the good and bad of Xbox 360 and PS3. Yes you are right; it’s a time to talk about the gaming capabilities of both consoles. Both contenders are fully packed with the diverse collection of games. Who does not know about the bloody battle fields of Gears of War, the unlimited adventure of Fable, world of Halo and Masterchief; indeed they all belong to Xbox 360. But when anyone comes into ring of gaming, they always find a Muhammad Ali in the form of PS3. PS3 is more diverse and arguably boss of games with more exclusive library of games such as Indiana Jones, Uncharted series, God of war and much more. But the downloadable game library of Xbox 360 is much deeper than PS3. Xbox 360-S has backward compatibility unlike PS3-slim. Getting all these above arguments in consideration, Xbox 360 just managed to beat the sucker punch thrown by PS3 and declares this round a tie.
It is definitely the graphics performance of both consoles that does not make any room for other gaming consoles such as Nintendo Wii. PS3 is this category finally get hold to Xbox 360 with a left took on the face of Xbox 360. If I am exaggerating then why not you sit down and play God of War 3 or Uncharted 2 and show me an Xbox games with same caliber of graphics? You give up, Oh My PS3!!
Here we are, in the final round of this battle; the Value for money. Both of these consoles are £194.74 at their entry level but only thing that can be argued is that who has better graphics, games and online services/libraries. But the real impact of PS3 is the blu ray that gives an edge to PS3 to make this round to its name because in the future this blu ray will support the 3D content and will make PS3 more than just a gaming machine. Hence, Sony PS3 is a champion of gaming market. On the contrary, at the end, it’s your personal comfort and taste which matters the most. It’s you who merely wants to look cool between friends and end up buying a console against the taste or you really pick up a machine based on your hands on experience but never mind to have both of them if you are lucky enough.
